Weird Computer Shut Down

This is weird
I was playing Eve,doing a mission and for some reason the computer restarted by itself.
Anyone experienced this?Any ideas?

Did it just go straight to bios or did it go through the full windows shutdown? If it went to bios, then something may be wrong with the hardware, if it went through the windows shutdown it may have been because of a patch reboot in the background.

It may have been a patch. My Vista (yeah, I admit it) box had to do a manadatory reboot on Thursday so you may have just recieved the patch.

no bios
The computer just restarted.The screen went blank(well,black) and restarted.
It may have been my graphics card
I just updated it and I will see tomorrow how it goes.
This is the first time I have such a restart on my new computer

Try turning off hardware acceleration for the soundcard. Or even easier, disable sound and try the mission again. If nothing happens, turn it on and if its the soundcard you will reboot again.

Whilst I've not had it myself, I did have a friend suffer similar to this, I believe following from the Trinity patch (he never suffered the problems before).

Can't remmebr if he actually solved what it was or not, but I believe he found some posts about it on Eve-O - I will try to get hold of him and find out more.

He had it happen a few times though, seemingly at random - have you had it happen again since?

I've only had this happen to me when I was trying to run two things of EVE at once and if I switched back and forth too much the computer would eventually restart. This was pre trinity.

Not sure what was causing it, I just figured my computer wasn't able to handle it.

That was the first time. And since updating the graphic software,it hasn't happened anymore(at least for now)

Last time this happened to me, it turned out my mobo was shot. :/

So we took it out back and shot it. I'm serious. My brother-in-law hung it up on the wall at his office as a reminder of why you buy from reputable vendors.

The only time this happened to me was repeatable and inexplicable

Doing level 4 angels missions would make my machine restart - the hard and nasty way - black screen and reboot.
every ime I did the second room in AE I think it was- disabling sound fixed it.

Other possibilities are gfx or cpu overheats, but you would tend to hear the fans heading towards take off speeds before the reboot.
